Neuralink: Elon Musk Another Venture

Hello everyone, this is the second post of 2020. Also, the first one in Feb (wrote in Feb but published in March). So, I officially lagging behind my 2020 target. But, I have some reasonable excuses and other projects in the pipeline to blame. However, today we will be talking about a very interesting company called 'Neuralink'. It's currently working on the brain-machine interface. I know it's a topic that can make you overwhelmed pretty quickly. But, bare with me and we will together try to grasp those concepts. What is Neuralink? So, what the heck is Neuralink? It's a company founded by Elon Musk and is currently working on brain-machine interface research. The long term intention for Nueralink is to help us achieve symbiosis with AI. And, to provide us with a way to get along in this super fast-changing world. More on that later. Before you raise your eyebrows and start imagining a dystopian future, some real-world scenarios can be achieved shortly. In simple t

GeekyShots: VPN & Proxy

Hello everyone, today we are going to talk about a very interesting topic. In 2019, everyone should know the ways to use the internet safely. Today, we will be talking about the virtual private network, proxy network, their differences, and their similarities. So, let's jump right into it.

Proxy Network:-

So, what is a proxy? Well, in a nutshell, a proxy is just another computer between your computer and the web site's server that you are visiting. Now, what does it do for you? One of the primary uses of a proxy network is to hide or mask your IP address. An IP address is a unique address for every device your the internet. And every website uses this IP address to identify and track you. Let me give you an example, when you visit a website like YouTube then YouTube stores this IP to keep track of who visited this site. When you are using a proxy server, instead of your IP, it show's the proxy's IP. You can simply change your IP with a proxy IP use our proxy service or you can also do it manually by going into advanced settings of your browser. However, this is not something for you. It's mostly used in institutions and universities. One of the primary use cases would be accessing any database, which only allows requests from that specific IP.

Virtual Private Network:-

A virtual private network performs the same as a proxy server and more. In addition to hiding your IP address, it also encrypts all the data that's being processed between your device and the server. This reduces the chances of you getting hacked as even if a hacker manages to get some of the data, it won't make any sense because it's in hashed form due to encryption. For instance,  when you visit a website using a VPN service, your data will be passing through a VPN network via a VPN tunnel. This is more of a "solution for everyone". This also allows you to access something that's blocked or not available in your region. I recently watched a whole web series, which is only available in India for free otherwise I need a subscription just like Netflix. Now, you might be judging me, but this is just an example of a virtual private network application. Now, how I did that? A lot of VPN services would allow you to select the location of the VPN server.

Conclusion:-

To conclude, you might be interested in using a proxy service or maybe be already using a proxy. My main intention behind writing this article was to give a basic idea about the concept, their differences, and their similarities. Personally, I think everyone should be aware of these things and be at least taking some basic counter measurements because cyber crimes are still happening on a large scale. And this can provide a layer of protection.
